What was the Help Scheme?
TV has switched to digital across the UK and the traditional TV signal has been switched off. The Help Scheme is closed for new applications.
The Help Scheme was run by the BBC to help everyone who was eligible disabled, aged 75 or over, registered blind or partially sighted or anyone who had lived in a care home for 6 months or more with everything they needed to switch one TV to digital.
Our standard option included (for an all-inclusive cost of £40 or free if the person also received certain income-related benefits):
- Easy-to-use equipment
- Installation by an approved installer
- A 12 month aftercare service with a free helpline
